| "A delight for lovers of UFOs and unique fiction," stated Kirkus Discoveries. Months earlier, podcast host Byron LeBeau read the manuscript and raved, "I thought it was excellent... you would swear for the life of you that it was real." To know that Mr. LeBeau is a conservative Christian who believes UFO's are hostile, you might ask, "How?" Truly, a story like this one could only be told by a debut author who wrote about what he knew. Based on true events? When asked, Agar replied, "I kind of wrote this book so that I wouldn't have to say what was true. I tried to write a good enough story so it wouldn't matter. I think people are getting sick of big claims anyway. The truth is disturbing, and I feel like the only guy (the only good guy, anyway) who knows what it is. There's plenty of bad guys who know, and [in years past] I was being gilded to be one of them without really knowing it. In a way, loneliness compelled me to write [The Nonevent Principle]." Interviewer: "Sounds like writing can get a little dangerous sometimes." DC: "It can, actually... Not everybody is happy with what I wrote. I have no regrets, though." In the three-year course of writing the book, Agar endured a failed relationship with his fiancé, the deaths of two close relatives, and the month-long jailing of an innocent third -- the charges were later dismissed. He also lost his home to foreclosure. Was there a bright side? "Plenty of material for the sequel," said Agar. "An eclectic science-fiction romp through pop culture and fringe theory." -- Kirkus Discoveries >> Click to learn more on the Paleogravity Hypothesis for dinosaur extinction. >> Sneak peek at the first ten pages of The Nonevent Principle. >> Read the complete Kirkus Discoveries review.
